From the oxblood boots to the cello-wrapped body forms, there was something seductively sinister about Rita Liefhebber's F/W10 presentation. Held in the back of cube van in downtown Toronto, the unconventional set-up certainly peaked our curiosity. The collection, from the quilted kimono coat, to the drop-waist knit dress, had a characteristically pared-down minimalism that has earned Liefhebber a dedicated cult following. Unlikely pairings like a crimson leather mini skirt with a camel wool sweater were unexpectedly harmonious, while the leather-detailed leggings and sweatshirt had immediate appeal.
