Nothing like starting your day off at a Chanel show!

The polar bear on the invitation was a good indication of what to expect: With a giant snow covered ice sculpture resembling an ice floe (imported from Sweden no less), Karl Lagerfeld debuted a collection featuring tons of, gasp....faux fur! Pants, floor length coats, thigh-high boots, all in seemingly real faux fur—ven fur hot pants for the most daring client. But there were also classic Chanel tweeds and knits styled into tundra chic ensembles. Lagerfeld said the show was a commentary on global warming so the ground was covered in water, illustrating the melting ice, and models wore plastic shoe covers to protect their gorgeous Chanel boots.

After a few rough years since Pheobe Philo's departure, the Chloé label finally seems to be putting itself back on the map of It-girl's everywhere. At Chloé, Hannah MacGibbon picked up where she left off last fall with a collection of camel, 70's sportswear-inspired looks. Gorgeous separates like the must-have camel coat, pleated waist leather skirts, high waisted pants and shift dresses made for polished, easy-to-wear clothes that women will be lining up to buy. You can see the influence of Phoebe Philo in these clothes, which is expected since the two women worked together at Chloé during the height of the label.

A last minute invitation to Valentino had me running across town to the Halles Freysette—an empty warehouse space in the city outskirts where many shows have taken place this season. Projected pictures and films set the tone for what was described in the show notes as digital romanticism. Although he was a no-show, Mr.Valentino should be proud of the collection that Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuru and Pier Paolo Piccioli put out. Modern romance with the lightest of laces, refined and graphic ruffles – even on leather – and beautiful embellishments. These are clothes that celebrities should be wearing on the red carpet!

Afterwards I was off to one of my favourite restaurants in the Marais, Robert et Louise, to celebrate the birthday of FLARE contributor, Tommy Ton. The best cote de beouf in town and great company made for a fun prelude to my visit to Le Baron. This Paris hotspot is the place to see and be seen. The size of a shoebox, one wonders how it keeps up with it's popularity. Thanks to Frank and Jeremy of Jeremy Laing, we bypassed the crazy lineup and danced the night away with Dita Von Teese and Toronto socialite Stacey Kimmel.
