We’ve always had a thing for ballet-inspired fashion. The right combination of delicate femininity with striking athleticism never fails to entice. Canadian designer Mark Fast’s new campaign for his Faster collection evokes a dreamy barre class with models Anouck Lepere and Hayley Morley. It may seem a study in contrasts to pair Fast’s provocative designs with the angelic chasteness of ballet, but both the dance and design aesthetic chiefly spotlight the beauty of form. Perhaps Fast, who styled the campaign himself, is hinting at something grander. Hailing from Winnipeg, a dance-epicenter and home of The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the designer would be a prime pick to knit-up costumes for an upcoming production, don’t you think? Just imagine the dizzying sight of a prima ballerina pirouetting in his signature cut-out tights. We can’t think of a more en pointe partnership of fashion and fantasy.
