Brooks Brothers New Flatiron Shop Lands in Toronto

After a buzzy launch in New York this year, Brooks Brothers will open it's second Flatiron Shop here in Toronto. Housed in a former bank just steps from the University of Toronto's St. George campus, the goal here is clear: woo irreverent prepsters, scholastic types and rad-trad undergrads with the store's mix of the Thom Browne-designed Black Fleece line and clean-cut essentials such as madras blazers, banker blue oxford shirts and crisp kicks in collaboration with Superga. As a fleet of boat shoe-shod BB disciples readied the space for tomorrow's opening (the decor takes its cues from classic frat houses and a posh ragamuffin patina), we snapped Instagram shots. Yours for sneak peeking.

Your favourite stars will be armed in black and white this October. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the sequel to the 2005 hit film Sin City, is set to hit theatres October 4.

Director Robert Rodriguez will reunite with his co-director Frank Miller for the film’s much-anticipated sequel. The comic flick will be shot in 3-D this time around, and production is expected to begin sometime this summer.

The original film housed celebrity favourites like Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke and Brittany Murphy – just to name a few. Rourke and Alba are reportedly confirmed for the sequel, and a cast list “with some huge names expected” is set to be announced shortly. Whoever is attached, be sure to expect some major female action heroes (or villains!) -- Christian Allaire ...more

Kanye Making His Film Debut at Cannes

While Kanye has been behind some fairly lengthy music videos in the past, the rapper is set to premiere his first short-film, Cruel Summer next week at the Cannes Film Festival. Billed as a 'seven-screen experience,' the event is set to be part film, part art installation, and is inspired by a trip the Middle East earlier this year. Kanye wrote, produced, and directed the short, and selected pals Aziz Ansari and Kid Cudi to star. The film also shares a title with his upcoming album.

While we're excited to hear more about the premise of the film, we can't help but wonder - could this mean that we'll see the red-carpet debut of Kimye at Cannes?

Cannes: Freida Pinto Has Us Betting On Her for Best-Dressed

While perennial Cannes fashion favourite Diane Kruger has certainly caught our eye at the festival this week, Freida Pinto has unexpectedly become the star that we're predicting will end up creating the most memorable red carpet moments.

Earlier today, Freida sported the most laid-back of her looks at the festival so far - a geometric, midriff-baring Salvatore Ferragamo halter and skirt. The easy silhouette, exposed expanse of skin and the paneled print recall the luxe athleticism that dominated runways for spring.

Yesterday Freida walked the red carpet in a neon yellow Versace couture gown that managed to incorporate a peplum, lace and a thigh-high slit, all without sacrificing an ounce of elegance, thanks in part to a simple up-do and minimal accessories.

Freida also made her mark at the opening ceremonies of the f ...more

Chanteuse Lana Del Rey was among the celebrities who hit the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday. Lana wore a minimal black Alberta Ferretti column gown with a slight chiffon train - we saw her in a similarly dramatic look last week at the MET Gala in a dark Joseph Altuzarra number. The look was paired with a simple silver necklace and a box clutch. Lana is slated to perform at Chopard's Trophy Party in Cannes, an event known for drawing A-list crowds.

Red carpets aren't the only places Lana has been making an impression on the fashion world as of late - her namesake Mulberry handbag, the Del Rey, was recently released early at the brand's New York and London outposts due to customer demand.

Looks like Agyness Deyn will be trading in her Prada for a pitchfork. The fashion risk-taker and model is set to star in the film adaptation of Sunset Song, a 1930s novel that tells the story of a woman running her family farm during the economic crisis.

Deyn will play the lead female role of Chris Guthrie and will co-star alongside Peter Mullan, recently seen as the father in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse. This is not the model’s first time debuting her acting chops, either. Deyn has had small roles in a few short films and even appeared in the 2010 film Clash of the Titans. She also took the stage in a British production of The Leisure Society this past March.

"When I read the script I fell completely in love with the character and the story," Deyn said. "I can't wait to get started and just hope that I can do Chris Guthrie justice!"

Production for the film will begin towards the end of the ye ...more
