One could imagine the sound of women rejoicing the world over—from behind their computer screens as they watched the live-streaming shows—not for what was on the catwalk, but for what wasn’t. So long, bleached eyebrows. Instead, Tom Pecheux, creative makeup director for Estée Lauder, sent out Altuzarra’s models with dark, razor-sharp brows, like militant flags above the eyes. At Max Mara, he created fuzzy eyebrows that were just a touch more wearable. “When you talk about fashion, you don’t want it to be weak,” argues the pro. “You’re always looking for something powerful and strong.” The message for beauty watchers at home? You can go a step darker than your natural hair colour, and thicker, says Pecheux, pointing to Brooke Shields’ timeless full-fledged set. He used three shades of eyebrow pencil to get the colour just right, and he wasn’t alone. Dick Page, makeup artistic director at Shiseido, blended a trio of creamy shadows at shows such as Narciso Rodriguez and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
