Summertime and the living was easy. #tbt to the days not so long ago when all we needed was a swipe of sunscreen to keep our tans at a healthy glow and a gentle cleaner come night. But as colder weather closes in, our regimen will require a bit of an upgrade.

It’s no question that Canadian cold weather calls for some heavy duty TLC, but what you need really depends on your skin type. We caught up with Dr. Harold Lancer of Lancer Skincare, the genius behind Kim Kardashian’s flawless face, for tips on taking care of every kind of skin and the prods that will help you make it to April.

So proud of my dermatologist Dr. Lancer. I feel younger every time I see him lol #TrueStory

Skin Type: Dry

Tip: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. “Hyaluronic acid and peptides will boost your skin’s hydration level, and reduce the appearance of fine lines,” explains Dr. Lancer. Bonus points for prods with natural fruit oils, like avocado and apricot, which are great for loading up the skin with moisture.

Moisturizer: L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream, $116, sephora.com

Skin Type: Oily

Tip: “Keeping skin healthy, balanced and free of debris that can clog the pores is essential to help clear the complexion,” Dr. Lancer tells us. Be on the hunt for anything formulated with salicylic acid, which is sure to eliminate congestion (and thus, your surplus of oil).

A lightweight moisturizer is key to boost your skin’s radiance and protect it from unexpected seasonal changes.
