Connie Tai is a self-described beauty nerd. She has worked in New York City at Bliss and Cargo Cosmetics in product development and wrote a blog called Chronicles of a Beauty Nerd until early this year when she launched her own line called MIYU Beauty.
The line combines ancient Chinese medicine with modern science to address skin concerns. There are two skincare pairings: Hydrate Mi and De-stress Mi and both include a beauty essence (a facial mist with the nutrients of a serum) and a tea.
MIYU Beauty promises that you’ll love Hydrate Mi if, “You do not drink enough water, consume too many caffeinated beverages, travel frequently, live in dry climates or just naturally have parched skin,” and De-Stress Mi is for, “Someone who multi-tasks from dawn till dusk, are strained from pressing timelines or are just naturally type A.”
The teas are delicious, the essences smell lovely and the packaging looks ultra luxe. It’s a creative and successful blend of philosophies that already has a following. The line launched on beauty sample site Birchbox in the U.S. (and Topbox in Canada) and was sold out of De-stress Mi in two weeks.
