There’s been plenty of talk over the last couple of seasons about the return of statement lipstick, but “people are generally more comfortable with a strong eye than a bright lip,” says Sheri Stroh, Toronto-based makeup artist with Plutino Group. “Your eye makeup will last longer than bright lipstick, and it’s less inhibiting to experiment with colour on your eyes.” Stroh points to this season’s focus on strong eye makeup as being a cool take on the otherwise pretty eye we’ve been seeing until now and says it’s more structured than the standard smoky look of seasons past.
