WHAT'S ON
As the leaves turn and the temperature drops, there's nothing more tempting than cozing up with a cup of tea to a new season of primetime television. But think again—you're living in a city that rarely sleeps. In fact, Toronto's schedule only picks up come fall. Here's your guide to what's on. —Laura Lanktree

L'ORÉAL FASHION WEEK There's no mistaking the growing force of Canadian fashion design. And with homegrown names like Todd Lynn and Jeremy Laing taking the international stage over the last few weeks, it's time to put the focus back on the city that gave them wings. Toronto's L'Oréal Fashion Week runs from October 20th-25th and will feature shows by Pink Tartan, Joeffer Caoc, Evan & Dean, Joe Fresh, Paul Hardy, Carlie Wong and more. For more info on shows and ticketing, visit www.lorealfashionweek.ca and don't forget to check out the coverage on flare.com - all week long.
ARE YOU IN OR ARE YOU OUT? If you think you've got what it takes to start your own fashion label, head to Liza D Fashion School at the Direct Energy Centre the weekend of October 25th. (Jay McCarroll, winner of Project Runway in the US, is a big fan of Liza's) Tickets, details, and DVDs, in case you can't make the weekend workshop, are available at www.lizadfashionschool.com.
SIP WITH SOMELIERS Crush Wine Bar has not only revamped its décor, it has also given the menu and social calendar a fresh spin. They are now offering wine tasting classes such as The Introduction To Wine and Crush's Top Ten. Soon you'll be sippin' and swirlin' like a pro. www.crushwinebar.com
EYE OF THE BEHOLDER Artist and designer Sunny Choi publicly ponders the concept of beauty at her new namesake gallery. After dressing the likes of Susan Sarandon and Sharon Stone in her 20-year eponymous fashion label, her opening exhibition, The Gatekeeper of Beauty, proves her passion transcends. "I found that I have a continuous need to create beauty", says Choi. "It's with this principle of freedom, balance and harmony that I apply to my canvas." The exhibition runs through November. 1046 Queen Street West. www.sunnychoigallery.comEmily Huggard
BRAZIER BASICS There's no messing around with the perfect fit when it comes to your bra. That's why TO girls flock to Secrets From Your Sister, Bloor West's chic delicates jaunt. The store now has an uptown, err sister, at Yonge and Eg, a 1,200-sq-ft. space seductively decorated in dramatic wallpaper and rich velvet fabrics. Enter the "boudoir" room where the expert staff measures and fits you in brands such as Elle Macpherson, Pleasure State and Betsey Johnson. 2501 Yonge Street. www.secretsfromyoursister.comEmily Huggard
FLARE WAS THERE AT 'CEMENT MIXER 2008' On Tuesday, September 23rd, Flare co-sponsored Habitat for Humanity Toronto's 'Cement Mixer'. The 5th annual fundraiser was held at the Drake Hotel where model Monika Schnarre was the celebrity emcee.
