1.
Bed-head bliss
Turn off the blow-dryer and do your hair wash ’n’
wear style. Fine, straight locks become low maintenance with
a “shattered bob that has lots of uneven wispy layers,”
says Charles Booth, master stylist and founder of La Coupe Salon
hair products. He recommends graduated layers around the face
for wavy hair and longer layers for thick, curly tresses to
guarantee air-dried perfection. Give fresh-out-of-bed hair sex-kitten
appeal with weightless volume via La Coupe Root Blast Texture
& Root Lift Spray, 250 mL, $7. Still too much work for you?
Take your cue from the catwalk and tie your hair back in a messy
ponytail or low-riding braid as seen at Chloé, Narciso
Rodriguez and Calvin Klein.
2. Gloss and glow
Thanks to barely made-up hotties such as Kate Hudson and Sandra
Oh, there’s no need to sweat your lazy-day routine for
a full-on face. Jemma Kidd, founder of The Jemma Kidd Make-Up
School in London, UK (yup, she’s model Jodie’s
stunning sis), says her new makeup line takes no-fuss application
to a new level: all you need are your fingertips. “I’m
super-lazy, so we’ve taken the headache out of makeup,”
says Kidd. Roll on lip stains, wipe on wand-stick glosses
and dab on blush with your digits. “You don’t
even need a mirror,” says Kidd. Plus, each product comes
with time-saving cheat sheets for application know-how.
3. Foot patrol
Got a Sunday brunch date on the patio and your toes are their
usual mess? Rub cuticle oil—or even olive oil—on
feet, toes and cuticles to give natural tootsies a sleek,
smooth look. Dealing with leftover chipped polish and too
tired for a DIY pedi? Swipe a dark-red or hot-pink shade such
as OPI Nail Lacquer in You Rock-apulco Red or Strawberry Margarita,
$12.50 each, to cover up what’s underneath. Feet are
far enough away that if you have to polish over an existing
shade, even your BFFs won’t notice.

4. Relax beautifully
Look Paris Hilton-fresh after a night of partying by turning
an afternoon break into beauty time. Plop on an Estée
Lauder Perfectionist Power Correcting Patch for Deeper Lines
and Wrinkles, $65/3 patches, and smooth the skin around your
eyes while you take a breather. There’s no mess, no
rinse: just peel and stick, then peel off. Try L’Oréal
Revitalift Intensive Lift Mask, $23/4 masques, to zap facial
wrinkles with the same fuss-free approach.
5. Pretty pout
For soft, luscious lips à la Angelina Jolie and Jessica
Simpson, gently brush your lips with a clean toothbrush to
remove dry skin, then “add a pop of colour to make you
look alive, youthful and red-carpet pretty,” says Sophia
Whyte, colour specialist for Sephora in Toronto. Scrap the
liner, lipstick and powder and follow instead with a tinted
lip balm such as Too Faced Bunny Balm in Bodacious Berry,
$16.50, or Tarte 24/7 Lip Sheer in Tuesday, $20.
6. Nail it
Glam hands don’t need A-list effort to get noticed. “All
you need is five minutes to look fabulous,” says Essie
Weingarten, president and founder of NYC’s Essie Cosmetics,
whose fans include “it” gals such as Madonna and
Gwyneth Paltrow. Super-sheer nail polish slicks on easily in
one coat and won’t show mistakes. Try Essie Nail Polish
in Pink Glove Service, Vinyl Bikini or Cherry Pop, $11 each.
Swipe on a fast-drying topcoat, wait one minute, apply Essie
Quick-e Drying Drops, $29, and voilà, you’re all
done. FLARE’s pick: Make it french without
the fuss by running Sally Hansen Nail White Pencil, $3.28, underneath
the tips of your nails.
7. First base
Looking gorgeous 24/7 is possible for lazy gals who want minimal
mirror time. Thanks to updated long-wear foundation you can
have flawless, shine-free skin and you only have to “do”
your face once. Try Revlon ColorStay Active Light Makeup with
SPF 25, 30 mL, $19. “Squeeze it into your hands and
apply it like moisturizer. It won’t rub, fade, wear
or sweat off,” says Jacquie Hutchinson, national product
trainer and makeup artist for Revlon. Its silicone-based formula
means it glides on easily and there’s no heavy cakey
feeling.

8. Faux fresh
For those who can’t be bothered to get wet, sans-shower
tricks keep hair fantastically fresh. Eliminate excess scalp
oil by “soaking up the grease—especially along
the part line—with baby powder for blond hair, bronzing
powder for dark hair and facial blotting papers for thick
curls,” advises Derek Selby, director of training and
development for Schwarzkopf Professional. Next, freshen up
locks with Schwarzkopf Osis Hairbody Style & Care Spray,
200 mL, $17, and a spritz of hair mist. FLARE’s
pick: Spray on the feminine and musky Narciso Rodriguez
Her Hair Mist, 30 mL, $48, and you’re good to go.
9. Slick and soft
Covet Eva Longoria’s star-powered sheen but not her
long beauty routine? Look and feel as head-to-toe silky without
the spa: simply shower before bed, pat yourself dry and apply
body oil to your damp body, rubbing the residue onto the ends
of your hair, says Allison Hegedus, regional director for
Vida Wellness Spas in Vancouver and Whistler, B.C. “It’s
like doing a hot-oil treatment all over—without the
time-consuming steps.” Plus, you won’t need to
moisturize your skin or deep-condition your hair in the morning
(so go ahead and press snooze). FLARE’s pick:
Tom Ford Estée Lauder Azurée The Body Oil Spray,
120 mL, $38, or Dermologica Stress Relief Treatment Oil, 100
mL, $31.
10. Product savvy
Buy smart products that do more than one thing and you’ll
save yourself some work. L’Oréal Sublime Glow
Daily Moisturizer + Skin Tone Enhancer, 236 mL, $12, moisturizes
and gradually self-tans your skin; Olay Dual Action + Toner,
200 mL, $10, cleanses and tones at once; and triple-threat
B. Kamins, Chemist Bio-Maple Matte Moisturizer SPF 15, 50
mL, $55, moisturizes, controls shine and protects skin from
the sun. Phew. We got tired just thinking about it. Now go
lie down while these products do all the work for you.
