OSCAR HAIR With celebrity clients Katherine Heigl, Petra Nemcova, and Kirsten Bell (to name a few), hair gurus Eli Thomas of Fred Segal Beauty and Chase Kusero of the Sebastian World Design Team have joined together to create a salon with serious star quality. The luxe Thomas Chase Hairdressing salon is located on the exclusive Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, California, yet Thomas and his brother Yuri—who serves as CEO—are both proudly from Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Chases will host hairstylist to the stars Ted Gibson for the Oscars to use their salon as his Hollywood headquarters. That’s good ol’ east coast hospitality for you.

HOT SPOT We discovered a new salon for quality airbrush tanning in Toronto—Bronzeado in the Yonge & Eglington area. Owner Stephanie Kluke opened the esthetics salon because she loves to travel, and wanted to offer all the services us gals require before we jet to the beach, under one roof. As any beauty editor worth her La Mer would, we ran past the new age tanning beds straight to the airbrush tanning room. Bronzeado’s Assistant Manager Cynthia Sharpe, who trained for airbrush tanning in Miami, did a great job ensuring we didn’t walk away spotty. She shined a black light on us to easily spot and fill in any unevenness. What we loved most? The clear formula doesn’t transfer onto our skinny jeans and doesn’t require standing around for 20 minutes to dry.

TEST DRIVE It’s been three months since we traded in our seemingly antiquated $7 toothbrush and started using the Oral B Triumph electric toothbrush, priced at $180. We were very curious to know if, at our next dental check-up, our hygienist would notice a difference. Turns out the answer is yes.
